TRIP FEATURES

Our camping trips showcase California's beautiful natural landscapes and provide an easy, affordable, and no stress weekend get away.

Experience the freedom and flexibility to enjoy your camping trip exactly how you want, without the hassles of doing it all on your own.

We provide the infrastructure- together we'll create great memories!

Campsites

We carefully select group campsites, generally within or near State and National Parks.

Some campsites feature full running water, flush toilets and showers, while others provide simple outhouses. See individual trip descriptions for details.

We outfit our camps with Explore California Outdoors signature blend of well thought out camp amenities to make your experience comfortable, relaxing, and enjoyable.

You will share our group site with other Explore California Outdoors participants, and our low key friendly approach makes it easy to make new friends.

The Experience

While camping with us you are welcome to join us for activities such as hiking, or free to enjoy the day as you see fit.

Relax and enjoy camp or get out on an adventure, the choice is yours. We can provide recommendations for local activities and can help make arrangements with local activity providers.

Each evening, weather and local conditions dependent, we'll have a campfire with the compulsory s'mores, a great opportunity to come together to tell stories and make new friends.

Camp Manager

Our staff will handle campsite logistics, including facilitating equipment setup and breakdown, meal preparations, and in camp coordination.

They will take great care to ensure that your camping experience is comfortable, and seamless giving you more time to immerse in the landscape distraction free.

Equipment

We provide all top of the line equipment carefully selected to be the best possible match for the conditions of each of our outings.

Our camps are outfitted to provide everything you need to enjoy the outdoors comfortably including tents, a camp kitchen, shade/ bug structures if needed, hand washing stations, camp chairs, lighting etc. We’ve thought of all the details.

Meals

Terrific meals are included and are carefully prepared by our staff.

Meals are substantial and tasty. Many ingredients are sourced locally with an emphasis on supporting local organic farms and food producers.

Wake up each day to excellent coffee and teas and a hearty breakfast.

Lunches are typically deli style, with plenty of fruit and healthy (and not so healthy) snack options that you will pack and take with you for the day allowing you the ultimate freedom to plan your day however you like.

Dinners typically comprise three courses, including appetizers, a main dish, and dessert served family style. We love dutch oven cooking- brownies are a favorite!

Dietary restrictions can almost always be accommodated. We have each individual submit a questionnaire designed to highlight their eating preferences/ requirements prior to their trip to help us plan.

Activities

Each of our trips feature an array of terrific outdoor activities.

Many of our trips may include optional guided activities such as hikes. If you prefer to explore on your own each destination has great activities to accommodate diverse interests.

Climb a mountain, visit local interests, go swimming, sit on the beach and read a book- the choice is yours.

Since you don’t have to manage and organize your camp, prepare meals, or use your own equipment, you'll have more leisure time to explore as you see fit.

Group Participation- Keeping in alignment with our philosophy of fostering connections among trip participants and encouraging a family atmosphere, all of our trips are participatory in nature. All participants contribute to various logistical aspects of the trip experience, just a few minutes each day- for example setting up and taking down your tent, washing your own dish after meals etc. We have very well established systems that make these "camp chores" simple, easy, and carefree.
