We offer outdoor equipment for rent, in addition to our guided adventures. All gear is available in Chico, CA and is available for easy pick up/ drop off.

To make a gear rental fill out our Reservation Form​ and under Special Considerations please indicate what you are interested in renting including quantity and any additional information that may be helpful for us in serving you. Or, give us a call at 530-521-1883.

Camping Gear

​

All Camping gear rentals include 5 days with an additional charge per day after 5 days. Rentals longer than 10 days please inquire for price. 

​

Large group rentals may be available. Inquire for a custom quote.

​

​Camping gear rentals are available beginning at 6:00am on Day 1 and may be dropped off no later than 8:00pm on the last day of the renal. Earlier or later pick up/ drop arrangements can be arranged on a case by case basis- please inquire.

COMPLETE DELUX Camp Set Up- for up to 4 people  $225.  $35 each day after 5 days.

 

*Does not include sleeping bags.

This camp system provides EVERYTHING you will need to camp up to 4 people very comfortably. A medium size SUV (with a rooftop cargo box) or larger vehicle is advised to ensure you have adequate space.

4 Exped Megamat sleeping pads

Complete cooking system within a 24G Action Packer (18.5" x 26.1" x 16.9") - includes a 2 burner propane stove, pots/ pans/ strainer, ALL utensils, dishware and mugs, large cutting board, silverware, coffee cone and filters, table cloth, tubs for washing dishes, dish soap, sponges etc... Note: No propane is provided.

This camp system provides EVERYTHING you will need to camp up to 4 people comfortably in a SMALLER package. This is the kit to choose if you are short on space and need to keep your kit small. A smaller size SUV (with a rooftop cargo box) or larger vehicle is advised to ensure you have adequate space.

Complete cooking system within a 8G Action Packer (14.4 x 19.8 x 11.8) - includes a 1 burner dual fuel propane/ butane stove, small pots pan set (GSI Pinnacle Ceramic Base Camper),  utensils, dishware and cups, cutting board, silverware, coffee cone and filters, table cloth, dish soap, sponges etc... Note: No propane/ butane is provided.

Water Craft

 

Watercraft delivery and pick-up may be available- please inquire.

These rentals are a great option for floating the Sacramento River between Irvine Finch to Pine Creek or near the Chico Creek confluence commonly referred to as The Washout. Paddling up Pine creek is another very beautiful and relaxing option. FREE pick up and drop off may often be arranged to these locations. Please inquire.

Aire Lynx II Inflatable Kayak- $45 (4 hours) $75 (8 hours) Overnight rentals ($50 a day)

Each kayak can accommodate 1 or 2 people and includes life jacket(s), paddle(s), and a small dry bag.

​

14 Foot River Raft- $125 for up to 6 hours. Need an overnight or longer rental?- please inquire.

​

12 Foot Fiberglass SUP- $45 (4 hours) $75 (8 hours) Overnight rentals ($50 a day)

Each raft can accommodate up to 6 people and includes life jackets, a paddle for each person plus 1 extra, and medium dry bag.

Terms

 

Our mission is to support people getting outdoors with greater frequency. Our gear rentals are offered to support this mission. We will do everything we can to provide you with the best gear possible for your excursion. We will also do our best to work with you to support you and your trip and can sometimes be flexible. Do not hesitate to ask if you have special circumstances or needs that differ than what is offered on our website. We'll see what we can do to accommodate you.

We expect that our renters will treat our equipment as they would their own and that they take full responsibility for it's care. We have spent decades using outdoor gear in the field under the most challenging circumstances and understand that there is wear and tear that comes with it's use. We also understand that high quality equipment, used properly, lasts many years without significant degradation. It is usually obvious when gear has been mistreated.

To rent equipment you must agree to the following terms:

 

All equipment MUST be returned in the same condition and cleanliness as it is received. A cleaning fee of $75+ may be assessed if gear is not returned as clean and dry as it was received. Consumables are not expected to be replaced.

​

All gear must be inspected by you prior to accepting it and any damages must be noted prior to taking possession. 

​

Any damage to gear after it is accepted will be the responsibility of the renter. If equipment is returned to Explore California Outdoors damaged, we will determine if it may be repaired in house and the fees charged to the renter accordingly. If gear cannot be repaired, or we choose not to repair it, the full replacement value of the equipment will be charged. 

​

Lost, stolen items, and damaged beyond repair items will be charged based on local (Chico, CA) availability and prices of the same, or comparable item. 

​

​Renters assume any and all risk associated with rented gear even if it is determined to be faulty. Explore California Outdoors assumes no responsibility whatsoever for the safety of any gear rented.
