Do I need camping experience to participate on your camping trips?

​

No. Please join us! We have a lot of experience introducing folks to camping in some of the most challenging camping environments around. We’ll help make it easy and fun. Bring with you a sense of adventure and we'll take care of the rest.

Do I need to bring any specialized equipment on your trips?

​

We generally provide all the specialized equipment needed to enjoy our trips except for a sleeping bag and pad if you are joining one of our overnight trips. We will provide a packing list to help you plan your personal belongings for each trip.

I have specific food requirements- can you accommodate me?

​

We can almost always accommodate specific food requirements. We have each of our trip participants submit a questionnaire that is designed to help us plan for your meal preferences. We use these questionnaires to inform our menus. However, occasionally we may ask you to bring supplemental food items for particularly specific hard to accommodate requests.

Can I bring a pet on the trip?

​

Unless otherwise specified, pets are not allowed on our trips. We do offer some trips that do allow pets- keep an eye out for these “pet friendly” departures.

Do you allow children on your trips?

​

Each of our trip departures has a permissible age range permitted to join the trip and unless otherwise noted are children friendly. We do have departures exclusively open to adults only. See individual trip departures for details.

What is the tent/ sleeping situation like on your camping and overnight rafting trips?

​

We provide a 4 person or larger sized tent for you, and you are responsible for bringing your own pad and sleeping bag. If you don’t have your own, there are rental options available. Tents generally sleep 2 people, but can accommodate more. Folks traveling solo will be provided their own tent.

Can I bring alcohol on the trip?

​

You may bring alcohol on our trips, and we anticipate that participants will use good judgement and maintain moderation. Our trips are not about the party; they’re about relaxing, connecting, and enjoying the outdoors. For those that are looking for a more party like atmosphere, we ask that you find a different excursion than ours.

Is there electricity at the campsites?

​

No. Our campsites do not generally have access to electricity.

​

What is the camping/bathroom situation on overnight river trips?

​

On overnight river trips we will be camping on the edge of the river in a primitive camping situation with limited or no infrastructure/ amenities. On most overnight raft trips on the Sacramento River, our campsite will feature an established outhouse style restroom (no running water).

Occasionally, trips will use a portable toilet typical to multi-day river trips if an established outhouse is not available.

Do you have a way to keep my personal beverages cold on camping trips?

​

We do not supply cooler space to keep your personal beverages cold. We recommend that you bring your own ice chest. On river trips we will use the river to keep beverages cold.

​

Your trips are participatory in nature- what does that mean?

​

To foster a sense of camaraderie and connection amongst our participants and their surroundings we operate our excursions in a way that individuals contribute to the group effort in small ways. This may mean setting up your individual tent, washing your dish etc. We have very well-established systems in place. These contributions are minor and not time consuming but, in our opinion, contribute to the overall experience in a positive way.
