MacKerricher State Park Family Camping Trip
Join our 4th of July Family Camping Trip where land meets the sea.
MacKerricher State Park is one of our favorite camping locations on the north coast and is a terrific family camping destination. Our campsite within the park is located a short walk from the beach and miles of mostly deserted coastline.
Activities include miles of uncrowded beaches, exploring tide pools, riding bikes along the coastal trail, train rides, fishing, whale watching, sea kayaking and more!
Escape the heat, camp with other families without all the work, eat great meals, make new friends, and celebrate our nations 250th anniversary!

Trip Overview
Come celebrate 4th of July with us on the coast and camp steps away from the beach.
MacKerricher State Park, just north of Fort Bragg, encompasses and borders miles of mostly pristine undeveloped coastline.
We'll camp a short walk to the beach where it is easy to find an uncrowded spot to relax and enjoy the ocean and the local population of Pacific Harbor Seals, dolphins, whales, and shore birds that make this area their home.
Not far away are tide pools, the famous Glass Beach, and the Haul Road- a terrific bike and walking path that extends 5 miles to the town of Fort Bragg.

Campsite- Meet our staff at our group campsite in MacKerricher State Park, just outside of Fort Bragg, between 3-5:00pm on day 1. Specific directions and instructions will be provided when you book your trip. Early or late arrivals may be possible with advances notice. Please carpool if you are traveling with friends/ family.
Our campground features individual camp sites (park and camp in your own individual site), picnic tables, and fire pits. There are clean bathrooms with flush toilets and pay showers a short walk from your site. Our camp kitchen will also provide infrastructure for washing hands and water for drinking.
You'll be camping approximately 3 miles from the town of Fort Bragg (with all services), and less than a minute drive (10 minute walk) from a small market with basic supplies.
There is no electricity at the campsite. There is good cell reception at the campground though we ask that you refrain from using your electronic devices in the communal area- in this case where we gather for meals.
Camp Manager(s)- You will meet your trip leader at the campsite. They will show you around, get you oriented, provide your equipment and show you to your tent site. Make your self comfortable!
Equipment- Our roomy 4 person tents comfortably accommodate 2 people (but fit up to 4 if you prefer). If you are traveling solo you will get your own tent. Each tent will include a lantern. Note: you must bring your own sleeping bag and pad which may be rented if you do not have your own. Our camp also includes a complete kitchen set up allowing us to prepare terrific meals for the group, bug shelters if necessary, camp chairs, hand washing stations, and more. A detailed personal packing list will be provided when you book your trip.
Meals- Our MacKerricher State Park Camping Trip includes dinners each evening on days 1 to 3. Breakfasts are included on days 2 to 4. Lunches are provided on days 2 and 3 and are buffet style, available each morning for you to pack and take with you for the day. Dietary restrictions can generally be accommodated. Each participant will fill out a questionnaire prior to their trip regarding food allergies and preferences and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Activities- Activities in MacKerricher State Park are plentiful. We are a short walk away from miles of uncrowded beach with seal haul outs and tide pools. Locally available activities include; horseback riding on the beach, sea kayaking, ocean fishing, whale watching, train rides, and more. "The Haul Road" a 10 mile walking and biking trail is near camp and can be used to access miles of secluded beaches as well as the town of Fort Bragg. Bring your bikes. There is so much to do!
All of our trips are participatory in nature with everyone casually contributing in small ways to camp logistics. For example setting up and taking down your tent, washing your own dish after meals, etc. Beyond these small contributions we'll take care of the rest. We have very well established systems (developed over 25 plus years conducting professionally guided camping trips) that make these "camp chores" simple, quick, and easy.
